Take and release animals for scientific purposes

It is an offence under the Nature Conservation Act 2014 to take, release, keep, kill, import or export animals without a licence.

All applications must be accompanied by animal ethics approval and approval under the Bird and Bat Banding Scheme if applicable.

As part of your licence obligations you must complete the ACT Wildlife Atlas Record Sheet () for animals and plants and return it to Licensing and Compliance at the end of the project or when renewing the licence.
