Science underpins decision making in the Environment Division of the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate (EPSDD).
Conservation Research provides biodiversity and conservation scientific advice to inform planning, policy and management programs for conservation and management of the ACT's terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and to inform planning and development proposals.
We target information and advice to:
- educate and raise awareness among conservation and management stakeholder groups
- inform ACT Government's work in areas including bushfire management, kangaroo management, pest animal control, threatened species protection and conservation, licensing, fisheries management, and urban development
- advise emergency responses including bushfire and biosecurity to protect conservation values, and
- develop and implement frameworks for adaptive management.
