The Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate (EPSDD), with the support of the Australian Government, is investing in bushfire recovery research programs. These projects will provide fundamental knowledge contributions to understand the impacts of the Orroral Valley fire and determine effective recovery interventions.
Projects include:
- Post-bushfire response of fire sensitive vegetation communities and threatened flora in Namadgi National Park
- Habitat-mediated predation in a post-fire environment
- Population genetics analysis and assisted recolonisation post-bushfire for the endangered Broad-Toothed Rat
- Frog persistence and recovery in the ACT post the Orroral Valley fire 2020
- Bogs and Fens recovery monitoring - Parks and Conservation Service (PCS) and Conservation Research (CR)
- Post-bushfire invasive plant control - PCS
- Impacts of wildfire and planned burning in Subalpine Woodlands
- Post-bushfire recovery of birds in Namadgi wet sclerophyll forest
- Post-bushfire recovery of fauna in Namadgi National Park - Australian National University (ANU) and CR
- Post-bushfire recovery of vegetation communities in Namadgi National Park - ANU and CR
- Post-bushfire Blackfish Surveys of the Upper Cotter River
- Montane spiny crayfish recovery in bogs and streams
- Assessing fire sediment flushing in the Cotter River using drone collected imagery
