Join the ACT Heritage Council

Would you like to be part of the exciting and important work of the ACT Heritage Council? Do you want to be part of positive change around Aboriginal heritage reform?

Expressions of interest are sought from interested members of the community who would like to perform the role of Aboriginal Community Representative on the Council.

The Council has responsibilities under the Heritage Act 2004 including their ability to accept or dismiss heritage nominations and formally register places/objects on the ACT Heritage Register. The Council also makes decisions about the management of heritage places and plays a key role providing advice on planning and development matters.

Appointment to the Aboriginal Community Representative position is expected to be made in mid-2024 for a period of up to three years, with the possibility of extension or reappointment.

Applicants may be considered for other Council roles or for inclusion in a talent pool as subject experts or advisors.

Aspiring or emerging Aboriginal leaders are also encouraged to apply as the outcome of this expression of interest may be used to identify candidates for capacity building opportunities.

For information on how to express your interest, visit the ACT Diversity Register. Expressions close 25 March 2024.
