Winter walks photo competition (2018)

Despite what people may think, winter is the perfect time to get outdoors and explore the ACT’s parks and reserves. From 11 July 2018 to 8 August 2018, we invited Canberrans and visitors to capture the bush capital and share their photos and videos of our region’s parks and reserves.

Throughout the competition we received over 200 photo and video entries! We would like to thank everyone who entered and shared their bushwalking experiences with us.

Highly commended – Bec Jeffery – Such a lovely winter wonderland walk up past Honeysuckle.

Image by Ralph Whitten - Nursery Swamp walking track
Highly commended – Ralph Whitten – In winter the Nursery Swamp walking track leads out of Orroral Valley and into the icy realm of Nursery Creek and Nursery Swamp. Dramatic blades of ice jut daringly from a mossy and lightly snowed upon granite tor defying an entire cloudless day as the last of the day’s sun touches nearby winter-browned reeds.
