Environmental offsets compensate for the impact on matters of national environmental significance (MNES) from development. Environmental offsets are additonal land that will be protected from future development and managed to maintain or enhance the MNES in accordance with the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation ACT 1999 (EPBC Act). Examples of MNES are: white box-yellow box-Blakely's red gum grassy woodland, golden sun moth, striped legless lizard, superb parrot. These sites also protect other natural and cultural values including locally threatened species and indigenous and historic heritage values.
Bonner, Justice Robert Hope Park, Kinlyside, Throsby and Kenny Broadacre offsets as part of the Gungahlin Strategic assessment.
