Report on Urban Grasslands

CSIRO was commissioned by Canberra Urban Parks and Places (now part of Parks and Conservation Service) in 2005 to undertake a literature review on grassland ecology and management and to look for principles and alternative management treatments that would apply to different landscapes in the ACT, particularly to those for which Canberra Urban Parks and Places has management responsibility, that is, public land which Urban Open Space in the Territory Plan.

The literature review to focus on:

  • rehabilitation of weed infested grassland and woodlands to become native grass dominated systems; and
  • re-establishment strategies for native grasses and forbs in highly disturbed sites.
