Celebrate World Environment Day

Celebrate World Environment Day

On Wednesday 5 June 2019, over 100 countries will celebrate, take action and raise awareness for World Environment Day. This year’s theme is Beat Air Pollution.

This year we are celebrating and joining forces with some great organisations and Government directorates such as Canberra Environment Centre, SEE-Change, Woodlands and Wetlands Trust, TCCS and OCSE.

Join us on Wednesday 5 June 2019, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm in City Walk.

Be inspired to recycle, reduce your waste, use public transport and find out how you can get involved in protecting our unique bush capital. A range of green, interactive and fun activities will be on offer including:

  • hands-on activities to see how easy it is to make your own beeswax wraps, compost bins and worm farms
  • learn how to halve your household waste
  • join the lunchtime litter clean up gang
  • get tips on how to use your wood heater correctly
  • learn how to keep our waterways healthy
  • join a volunteer ParkCare group
  • meet the Gang Gang mascots
  • experience what it’s like to camp in one of our many great parks and reserves
  • find out how you can take the first step (or pedal) towards active travel
  • see a textile loom in action
  • find out about the e-bike bulk buy
  • take the challenge to swap single use plastics for reusable alternatives

What will you do this #WorldEnvironmentDay to #BeatAirPollution?
