EEIS is encouraging the efficient use of energy and reducing household energy costs. The Scheme also provides targeted assistance to low income households.
Between January 2013 and June 2017, more than 75,000 energy savings house calls were made, with over 70,000 households having participated in the Scheme. Over 19,000 of these calls were in priority households. Over 50 Canberra suburbs had participation rates above 30 per cent. Over 1.1 million energy saving items have been delivered under the EEIS, which has saved over 739,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.
Energy efficiency savings from the EEIS in 2020 are estimated to be $3.20 per week on average across all ACT households, with participating households saving around $5.00 per week.
