Supporting cultural tourism

Cultural tourism is a newly emerging sector with great potential for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses to benefit from this market. These businesses can further employ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to support economic independence.

Traditional Custodians developing or progressing their own businesses which showcase Indigenous Australian culture.

Future investment focus

Support the development of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses in the cultural tourism market through provision of training, and facilitation of better access to cultural sites and partnerships.

Building on existing investment

ACT Natural Resource Management (ACT NRM) has provided mentoring, training and support to a number of Aboriginal owned businesses in the ACT region such as Thunderstone Aboriginal Cultural Services, Culture on the Move and Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation.
