White Ribbon is an Australian campaign with the primary focus of ending men’s violence against women. This campaign works through prevention initiatives involving awareness raising and education/programs with schools, workplaces and across the broader community.
Violence against women – whether it occurs in or beyond the workplace – impacts on the health and safety of women at work, their wellbeing and their productivity.
What are we doing?
The Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate is working towards achieving White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation. This will mean we are part of a program that takes an active approach to promote respectful relationships and gender equality within the workplace. Importantly, it also demonstrates a culture of zero tolerance of violence against women.
Domestic violence leave is available to staff who need it under clause F22, DV leave arrangements, of the ACT Government's enterprise agreement.
In working towards this accreditation, staff from across our Directorate publicly made the White Ribbon pledge.
Find out how you can support the cause now:
- take the oath at the White Ribbon website
- become a White Ribbon advocate
- participate in workplace events which recognise organisations who support victims of domestic violence.
