Understanding Canberra's wetlands

Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Water, Simon Corbell, has launched the schools curriculum program Understanding Canberra's wetlands.

The program will be available to all ACT schools and was given an enthusiastic welcome by the children and staff at the O'Connor Cooperative School.

The school has a strong record in environmental awareness, including having its enviro centre which features a chook farm, garden and recycling centre. As part of the launch, children took Mr Corbell on a tour of the centre.

The children are ideally placed to make the most of the new curriculum program, with the Banksia Street wetland just a short walk from their school.
