The current selection of 20 infrastructure projects (see table below) - plus two research projects - is the result of extensive planning and design work as well as consultation with industry and community representatives.
As detailed designs were finalised for each package and construction scheduled, the local community around each project were notified and information provided on this website.
Construction of the infrastructure is complete. A two year macrophytes (water quality plants) establishment period has commenced at some of the sites. Establishment period refers to the process by which a plant becomes established in a new habitat.
Some of the infrastructure currently has netting in place. Netting will protect young plants from birds who routinely eat and trample new plantings. Netting will be removed once plants stable and have grown sufficiently to no longer be at risk from birds.
