Sites and progress
Construction of the first ACT Healthy Waterways project—two new wetlands at Isabella Pond in Tuggeranong—started in March 2017. The project is on budget and on time for completion in November 2018.
More projects will be rolled out in packages starting in November 2017. All projects must be complete by June 2019.
The current selection of 21 priority projects (see table below)—including the wetlands at Isabella Pond and two research projects—are the result of extensive planning and design work as well as consultation with industry and community representatives.
As detailed designs are finalised for each package and construction scheduled, the local community around each project will be notified and information will appear on this website.
It’s important to note that the current list of priority projects is not final and may change as a result of more extensive investigation during the detailed design phase. Designs for a number of ‘reserve’ projects are being prepared in the event that on-site discoveries or unavoidable delays make one of the priority projects infeasible.
Conversely, cost-savings across the ACT Healthy Waterways project may make it possible to activate a reserve project.

Are there any projects presented for community consultation in 2016 that are not going ahead?
As a result of community feedback and further investigation during detailed design, five projects will not progress:
- A project close to homes in the Yarralumla Creek catchment will not go ahead because of community concerns (YA012)
- Three in the Fyshwick catchment and one in Upper Molonglo pose significant risks for bird-strike at Canberra Airport (UM015, FW021, FW020 and FW001).
