Retailers are required to display this mandatory notice on their cash register although you may wish to display it beyond 1 November 2011 to promote and inform that the ban is in place.

For retailers who wish to use the electronic message option the mandatory wording is:

The ACT Government will ban the supply of lightweight, checkout-style plastic shopping bags, starting on 1 November 2011. Alternative shopping bags are available from this retail outlet.
