Fairbairn

  • The Australian Defence Force owns most of the plantation, with the ACT Government owning a small section in the south east corner.
  • The plantation is not currently harvested, however all compartments are due for thinning.
  • The area features the Air Disaster Memorial.
  • The area is not currently agisted for stock grazing.

Pierces Creek

  • This area is not currently harvested however some compartments will be due for thinning over the next three years.
  • The area has been reopened for restricted recreational use, excluding motor sports.

Uriarra

Ingeldene

Miowera

  • This area was partially destroyed in the 2003 fires. Debris from the fires has been cleared and areas have been replanted.
  • The roads within the plantation are used for car rally training.
  • The area is agisted for stock grazing.

Isaacs Ridge

  • This area is routinely used by neighbours and day walkers.
  • The area is part of the commercial estate, however the proximity to urban development may dictate future management decisions.
  • The area is not currently agisted for stock grazing.

Tuggeranong Pines

  • This area is routinely used by mountain bike riders and a paint ball lease is in place.
  • The plantation is part of the commercial estate, however the proximity to urban development may dictate future management decisions.
  • The area is not currently agisted for stock grazing.

Stromlo

  • The Stromlo forests were completely destroyed in the 2003 fires.
  • The National Arboretum Canberra and Stromlo Forest Park have replaced the commercial plantation estate.
  • Approximately 115 ha of plantation exists near the National Zoo and Aquarium and this will be maintained for forest health but does not make up part of the commercial plantation estate.
