ACT Environment Grants 2012-2013
Applications for the 2012-13 ACT Environment Grants closed on Friday 11 May 2012
Minister for the Environment & Sustainable Development, Simon Corbell, has called for applications for the 2012-13 ACT Environment Grants.
The ACT Environment Grants are worth more than $172,000, with an upper limit of funding of $50,000 for each project. Applicants cannot expect to receive on-going funding for the same project.
Valuing, sustaining and improving the natural environment of Canberra is a key element of the ACT Government’s vision for a contemporary “Bush Capital”. The Canberra Plan: Towards our Second Century sets out how goals for a city that is sustainable and in harmony with the environment can be progressed. The Canberra community is a vital part of this strategy and the ACT Government is keen to foster a partnership approach to building the resilience of the ACT’s natural environment.
Funding Priorities
Funding is available for projects that have a positive and desirable effect on the environment and meet one or more of the following priorities:
- support community engagement in implementing nature conservation strategies, including action plans for threatened species and ecological communities such as grasslands and woodlands;
- address the practical management of plant and animal pests;
- promote climate change abatement and/or sustainability through on-ground actions;
- promote local involvement in practical environmental activities that could extend to bush or urban park rehabilitation and recovery campaigns;
- involve the local Indigenous community in local environmental initiatives.
Projects that assist the Territory in celebrating Canberra’s centenary in 2013 are strongly encouraged.
Applicants are encouraged to develop collaborative projects that can demonstrate on-ground results at an appropriate scale.
