These Climate Change Grants support the Government’s greenhouse gas reduction targets, which commit the Territory to zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2060, and a 40 per cent reduction on 1990 levels by 2020. The targets were established under the Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act 2010 which provides the framework for helping the Territory realise the Government’s aim of zero net emissions.
Successful recipients of the Climate Change Grants will contribute to achieving the ACT’s greenhouse gas reduction targets in the community through, for example, community engagement, education, behaviour change and promotion of energy efficient technologies. They will also complement Government and community activities relating to climate change and emissions reduction.
