Climate Change Council

The Climate Change Council was established in October 2011 to provide advice to the Minister for Environment and Sustainable Development on reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and addressing, and adapting to, climate change (Media Release).

The Climate Change Council will report to the Minister annually within three months of the end of financial year (commencing in 2012). These reports will be made available to the public.

Members are appointed for an initial period of three years.

A conversation on climate change

The ACT Climate Change Council held its first conversation with the Canberra community on Thursday 4 April 2013. This was a well attended event and has provided the Council with valuable feedback on issues that are of concern to Canberra residents.

The Council would like to thank all those who participated in this initial forum and looks forward to engaging further with the Canberra community at future events.
