Community Energy Grants

Grants program for ACT-based, not-for-profit, incorporated community groups to install renewable energy technologies.

Applications closed 15 January 2010. Applicants expected to be notified of the outcomes in March 2010.

What is it?

The Community Energy Grants program provides funding to eligible ACT-based community groups to install renewable energy technologies, such as solar photovoltaic panels, wind generators and solar hot water, to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of the buildings they occupy.

A total of $900,000 is available in 2009-2010 for one-off projects of up to six months duration. There is a limit of $25,000 per community organisation. Who can apply?

ACT-based, not-for-profit, incorporated community groups, as detailed in the Guidelines for Applicants, can apply for a Community Energy Grant.

Community groups do not need to own the building, but must have the permission of the building owner to undertake works.

Applications must be received directly from the not-for-profit, incorporated organisation. Applications prepared by third party consultants will not be accepted.

How much is the grant?

The maximum funding available per community organisation is $25,000 (GST inclusive).

Eligible organisations sharing a building may submit a combined application, particularly for building improvements that will benefit all building users. In that case, grants may be made up to a multiple of the number of eligible groups. For example, four eligible organisations occupying one premises may apply for a grant up to $100,000.

How do I access it?

Please see the Guidelines for Applicants for details about how to access the program before completing the Application form.

Applications closed at 5pm 15 January 2010.

Applications will be assessed and applicants advised of the outcome in March 2010.

Works must be completed within six (6) months of receiving grant funds.
