RAFT / Advanced Handcrew

Members of the PCS RAFT team in a bushland location The Parks and Conservation Service (PCS) Remote Area Fire Team (RAFT) crews provide the Territory with over 50 personnel who are highly trained and capable in remote area emergency responses including fire fighting, search and rescue, and fuel management.

New personnel who express interest in performing remote area fire fighter duties are trained in advanced pumps and navigation in addition to basic fire fighting. After gaining sufficient fire experience personnel are then selected for RAFT training which includes helicopter safety, winch and hover entry/exit and works safety around aircraft. We also provide personnel with remote area first aid.
